Parent – focused approach Communication with parents is an extremely important element of childcare, and when a child becomes a member of our nursery, their parent/guardians become a member also. We welcome parents/guardians who wish to meet with their child’s care team, talk to the Nursery Manager or simply share in the activities their child is participating in. In addition, to keep up to date with all the nursery’s news you will receive a periodical newsletter, detailing recent events and forthcoming activities. Should you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s care, you will be able to arrange appointments to speak to their Key Worker or any member of the management team. Staff who genuinely care All our staff are police and health checked to ensure they are eligible to care for and work with children. All our staff are experienced and the majority are formally qualified, but we look for more than paper credentials to find the best people for the nursery – we employ team players with real empathy and commitment towards the children in their care. The Nursery Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the nursery, supported by the Deputy Manager. A senior member of the Nursery Management Team will always be on duty during the opening hours of the nursery. Similarly, the majority of our staff are first aid trained, thus ensuring that someone close is at hand at all times should accidents occur. The nursery has three bases – Babies, Toddlers and Pre-school – and each of these bases has its own Unit Co-ordinator, responsible for planning and co-ordinating these areas. These are supported by Nursery Practitioners who will, almost without exception, work exclusively in their base to ensure the vitally important formation of bonds between staff and children. Your child will move up through the bases as and when they are ready – the decision is reached jointly between staff and parent/guardians and any move will be phased in to minimise disruption.
